Applications for 2019 J-Pop Anime Singing Contest Now Open

The Embassy of Japan has announced that the 2019 edition of the J-Pop Anime Singing Contest is now accepting entries from amateur Filipino solo or duo singers for the event that will be held at the SM Cinema Centerstage, SM Mall of Asia, on February 16, 2019 from 1PM to 5PM.

Anime and J-pop are two things which have helped Japan make a name for itself, among other things. That is why events such as this has become a hot topic among fans of the Japanese culture not only in the Philippines but all over the world. Lucky for us, though, Japan isn’t as far off from us as it is from other countries. If you’re interested about anime and J-pop or the Japanese culture in general, this event could be your ticket to visiting Japan. Here’s how to join:

Of course, if you’ve seen how J-pop music videos are presented or conceptualized, this can help you get some idea on how to deliver a good performance. So if you’ve made up your mind, here are the requirements to join:

  • A completely filled-out application form
  • A copy of the song lyrics with the name of the original artist/s
  • A short write-up about yourself (50-100 words)
  • A link to the YouTube video of one or two songs combined (must not exceed 3 minutes in total)

All entries are to be submitted via e-mail at jicc-mnl@mofa.go.jp on or before January 11, 2019.

Chosen finalists will have the chance to fly to Japan for a three-day trip for two (2) valid until March 2019, as well as other exciting prizes from event sponsors.

Hurry and get your best vocal and stage act ready! Who knows, you might just win yourself a trip to Japan and the prestige of taking to stage your inner otaku and performing in front of other fans of Japanese culture.
