In line with the upcoming June 12 festivities (Philippine Independence Day), the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo will host a series of activities to commemorate the 120th Anniversary of the Philippine Proclamation of Independence starting June 10,2018.
Carrying this year’s theme: “Kalayaan 2018: Pagbabagong Pinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan”. The whole-day event will see various Philippine product showcases as well as a movie screening which features the unique talents and collaborative effort of the various Filipino community organizations in Japan.
PHL Embassy in Tokyo to Host Independence Day Events
The Independence Day activities will kick off at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo on June 10 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Rounding up a list of dedicated partners such as Asia Yaosho, ANA’s trading, New Nanay’s and Rainbow Fresh, the Philippine Embassy Grounds will house a number of product showcases which include Philippine handicrafts (native bags, summer hats, and fans), Filipino delicacies (halo-halo, kakanin, etc.), and fresh fruit products (papaya and ripe mangoes) which are also available for purchase.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) will unfold the movie premiere of “Kasarinlan,” a movie directed by Joey Manalang, an active member and advocate of the Filipino community in Japan and the very first winner of the Migrant Workers’ Day 2016 and winner in the song writing competition, “Buhay at Pag-ibig ng OFW”.
The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo invites the public, most especially all Filipino citizens in Japan to show their support by celebrating their motherland’s Independence Day Anniversary slated on June 10, since the Embassy will be closed for the holiday to be observed on June 12, 2018.
