Get TESDA Certified Online As A Domestic Worker In Japan: Here’s How
Many domestic employees come from a variety of educational backgrounds. This makes determining the appropriate training for employees challenging for employers.
With this in mind, an employer will normally evaluate a domestic worker’s work history, including training background and certifications, to determine whether they can match the demands and expectations of their family, especially if they have children or an older adult in the house.
Domestic Worker Training in the Philippines
People in the Philippines who want to become domestic helpers must first complete a training course. This training will serve as preparation for them to meet the requirements of other work abroad, such as in Japan.
After completing the course, students usually need to pay PHP 1,000 to get their certification. They can also pay another PHP 100 to get their hands-on experience.
This course will help domestic helpers renegotiate their contracts. It will also prevent them from experiencing harsh work conditions.
Note: The online training program was launched in March 2021. It is currently being reviewed for adoption based on the pioneering batch’s success overseas.
The Domestic Work NC II course is a comprehensive training program that’s designed to prevent domestic helpers from exploitation.
Domestic Work NC II Course Overview
What you can expect in this course: This course will help participants improve their skills in various tasks such as preparing food and cleaning houses, and several others including the following:
- Handling food and beverage
- Doing the laundry and ironing clothes, linen and drapery
- Making hot and cold meals/food
- Maintaining the house, dining room, bedrooms, toilet and kitchen clean.
- Maintaining an effective relationship with clients and customers
- Managing one’s performance and responsibilities
Course Duration: A minimum of 216 hours is required to complete this course.
Eligibility
Students and trainees also need to have the necessary skills and knowledge to complete the course. Being able to read and write are important, but students also need to have a commitment to complete it.

- Copy of High school or College Diploma
- Copy of Birth Certificate authenticated by NSO
- Certified True Copy of Transcript of Records
- Certificate of Good Moral Character

How to Apply
To start, students need to contact a training center accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Students should then submit the completed application form at the training centers that are approved by the TESDA.
